But in the process of being against something worth being against…it’s possible to become for something not worth being for.
 --Brian McLaren

*We've been asked "What's to like?" about fundamentalism.

Statement of Opinion

We believe in absolute truth.

We believe in relative truth.

We believe we can't know truth with absolute certainty, but that doesn't bother us too much.

We believe we can know absolute truth with relative certainty.

We believe that doctrinal debates over issues such as Calvinism/Arminianism are not a waste of time, but we assert they have wasted a lot of our time.

We believe in the value of theology.

We believe theology is overrated as an avenue to understanding God.

We believe God never got in our box, so we can't let Him out.

We believe that an emphasis on spiritual experience is both overdue and overdone.

We believe fundamentalism has something to offer the world.*

We believe fundamentalism has distorted people's perception of the world.

We believe fundamentalism is not limited to Christians and Muslims.

We believe in the value of nuance and color, that black and white are for 1950's television. Why would we   want to go back?

We believe some of our opinions are actual facts while others are figments of our imaginations or mistakes  we have come to embrace.

We believe that we are not always able to distinguish between which opinions are fact, which are figments  of our imaginations and which are mistakes.

We believe that the above opinion is essentially correct but we may even be wrong about that.
